When you use AutoFill, you can choose whether to consider these Position preferences or not when the shifts are automatically assigned. Changing preferences does not affect any already scheduled weeks. They can just be used the next time you AutoFill or change a shift.<\/p>\n<p>It can be helpful, for example, to indicate that an employee can work a difficult-to-fill Position if needed, but you prefer to have them work other Positions. It can also be useful in setting which locations the employee prefers to work (Ex. for an employee you can set all Location 1 Positions to &#8220;prefer&#8221; and other location Positions to &#8220;dislike&#8221;). Managers (with permission to edit employees) can set these preferences &#8211; but you can also allow your employees to set their own Position preferences on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/mgr\/h-sub-settings\/h-co-settings-emp-perm\/\"><strong>SETTINGS<\/strong>&gt;Global Employee Permissions<\/a>\u00a0page.<\/p>\n<p>To set Position Preferences for an Employee:<\/p>\n<p>From any page:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On the top menu, hover over\u00a0<strong>EMPLOYEES<\/strong>\u00a0and choose\u00a0<strong>Positions Grid<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Click the\u00a0<strong>pencil icon<\/strong>\u00a0<img class=\"noborder alignnone wp-image-1735 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/mgr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/06\/icon_pencil.png\" alt=\"pencil icon\" width=\"18\" height=\"18\" \/> next to the employee name to open the Position Preferences window<\/li>\n<li>Click any Position name once to change to Prefer (green) again to change to Dislike (pink) and again to change back to no preference\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Click the\u00a0<strong>Save<\/strong>\u00a0button\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/mgr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/sssetposprefsw.png\"><img class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4851\" src=\"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/mgr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/sssetposprefsw.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"658\" srcset=\"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/mgr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/sssetposprefsw.png 700w, https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/mgr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/sssetposprefsw-300x282.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Employees do not see Position preferences unless you have set &#8220;Employees Can Set Their Preferences for Positions&#8221; to Yes on your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/mgr\/h-sub-settings\/h-co-settings-emp-perm\/\"><strong>SETTINGS&gt;<\/strong>Global Employee Permissions page<\/a>.
