When you\u00a0add a shift<\/a> and do not manually enter the shift “paid hours” (duration), it is “auto calculated” – meaning that the paid hours for that shift are set to be the exact time between the start and end time. For example, 8am to 5pm would be auto calculated to be 9 paid hours. If you are seeing totals that look incorrect this likely is due to entering manually set paid hours incorrectly<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sometimes if there is unpaid break time between when employees come in and leave (ex. an unpaid break or lunch) you will want to manually enter that shift’s paid hours. The Auto Calculate check box is defaulted to On, but if you enter a number, it will not be automatically calculated.\u00a0<\/p>\n

You can manually add in the paid hours when you\u00a0add a shift<\/a>, or later you can do this quickly for a number of shifts or view how the shifts are all set using the\u00a0Multi-Shift Edit schedule view<\/a>\u00a0or the\u00a0Grid View using Bulk Edit<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On the\u00a0Multi-Shift Edit\u00a0<\/strong>schedule view<\/a>\u00a0Multi-Shift Edit<\/strong>\u00a0view, if you see “ac” next to the paid hours, this means that it was automatically calculated. You can quickly view this information and make changes to a number of shifts’ paid hours on this view and then click the\u00a0Save Changes<\/strong>\u00a0button.<\/p>\n

When you set your shifts’ paid hours (duration), and in future weeks you\u00a0Import<\/a>\u00a0that schedule or\u00a0Saved Template<\/a>, all of the shifts will already be set to the correct paid hours. You only need do this once for your initial schedule week.<\/p>\n

You can quickly add this information to multiple shifts using the\u00a0Multi-Shift Edit<\/strong>\u00a0schedule view<\/a>\u00a0or the\u00a0Shift Grid<\/a>\u00a0view.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Grid view has three columns that can help you know whether each shift is set to “auto calc” or a set paid hours.\u00a0 On the Grid view you can click “Select Columns” to choose those columns so they show on the grid.<\/p>\n
