To allow your employees to pick up open shifts, you’ll want to go to your\u00a0SETTINGS> Global Employee Permissions<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0page.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Note that employees can only pick up shifts for\u00a0Positions they are set to be able to work<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Near the bottom, in the\u00a0Tradeboard<\/strong>\u00a0section, you’ll find\u00a0permission 20 “Can see and pickup UNASSIGNED shifts<\/strong>.” Set this to \u2018at will<\/strong>\u2019\u00a0(without needing approval) or \u2018with manager approval\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0(meaning a manager has to approve each request).\u00a0<\/p>\n

Note that if you use the \u2018At Will\u2019 option then any pickup request that would put the employee over their maximum hours per week will require manager approval.<\/p>\n

Also, under\u00a0\u2018Viewing Other Employees & Their Schedules<\/strong>\u2019, you can set\u00a0permission 9 \u2018Can see UNASSIGNED SHIFTS on Everyone’s Schedule views<\/strong>\u2019\u00a0to either YES or NO.<\/p>\n

Then when you\u00a0\u2018Publish<\/a>\u2019 a schedule week, any Unassigned shifts will appear on the employee Tradeboard for that week, allowing them to click on the Unassigned shifts they want and request to pick them up.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Finally, please note that main managers can click on the\u00a0‘Change Layout<\/strong>‘ link on the\u00a0Weekly Tradeboard<\/strong>\u00a0view to change the layout, so that the unassigned shifts are posted above the shifts available for trade.\u00a0 If you make this change, it will appear in that order on your display and on the displays of other managers and employees.<\/p>\n
