{"id":1009,"date":"2018-05-04T20:25:37","date_gmt":"2018-05-04T20:25:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/mgr\/?page_id=1009"},"modified":"2021-04-20T20:10:42","modified_gmt":"2021-04-20T20:10:42","slug":"h-req-mgr-app","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/mgr\/h-req-mgr-app\/","title":{"rendered":"Trade \/ Drop &#8211; Require Manager Approval"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Requiring Manager Approval for Trades\/Drops &amp; Picking up Unassigned Shifts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/mgr\/h-sub-settings\/h-co-settings-emp-perm\/\"><strong>SETTINGS&gt; Global Employee Permissions<\/strong><\/a> page, the permissions #17 &#8220;Can TRADE shifts with one another&#8221; &#8211; &#8220;With Manager Approval&#8221; gives you control, requiring manager approval before any employee trades can take place.<\/p>\n<p>If you have set Trades or Drop\/Pick ups to be &#8220;With Manager Approval&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You will receive a trade request only\u00a0<strong>after both employees have agreed to trade their shifts<\/strong>\u00a0\n<ul>\n<li>If you approve the request, the shifts are updated in the schedule and the employees are notified<\/li>\n<li>If you reject the request, the affected employees receive notification that it was denied, and requestor may want to repost the shift to the Tradeboard<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>You will receive a drop\/pickup request when an employee wants to drop a shift after another employee agrees to pick it up\u00a0\n<ul>\n<li>If you approve the request, the shift is updated in the schedule and the employees are notified<\/li>\n<li>If you reject the trade\/drop, the employees receive notification that it was denied, and the requestor may want to repost the shift to the Tradeboard<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Dropping Shifts<\/h2>\n<p>Permission #18 &#8220;Can DROP shifts if others agree to COVER them&#8221;\u00a0 &#8211; Employees cannot Drop a shift unless another employee first agrees to pick it up (but you can let employees unassign themselves from shifts using Permission #19 on the <a href=\"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/mgr\/h-sub-settings\/h-co-settings-emp-perm\/\"><strong>SETTINGS<\/strong>&gt;Global Employee Permissions<\/a>\u00a0page).<\/p>\n<p>Example: John wants to drop a shift. He clicks on his shift and chooses to place it on the Tradeboard as a &#8220;drop.&#8221; Jane sees his shift on the Tradeboard and clicks on the shift and agrees to pick up his shift. If you allow drops &#8220;At Will,&#8221; the schedule would then reflect Jane assigned to that shift.
