Ignore Employee Preferences

Ignore Employee Work Time Preferences
If you do NOT want AutoFill to consider your employees’ “prefer” and “dislike” work time preferences or Position preferences, you can choose to ignore them any time you AutoFill. 

There is no downside to having employees enter their prefer and dislike times since they do not affect any existing shifts and you can choose to ignore them when you AutoFill if you like. 

We normally recommend that you allow employees to set their prefer and dislike times so that you are always fully informed, but if for some reason you do not want them to see or be able to set their own work time preferences, you can turn off this ability on your SETTINGS> Global Employee Permissions page.

To AutoFill and Ignore Employee Preferences or Position Preferences:

From any weekly Unpublished Schedule View: 

  • Click AutoFill to open the AutoFill window 
  • Check the box next to: Ignore employee “prefer” and “dislike” preferences and/or “position preferences”
  • Click the AutoFill button

Employee work time preferences are shown in other places just for your convenience:

  • The Edit Shift window when you are looking for a replacement. You will see the employees listed by availability and preferences and by clicking the Availability Chart.
  • The View Employee details page – click an employee name anywhere in the system and then on the Schedules/Preferences tab you can see their preferences
  • The Availability schedule view shows shifts and also shows the work time preferences for each day for each employee.

Note you can always track how and when a schedule was AutoFilled using the “Schedule History” link at the lower right of all schedule weeks.

You also can compare any schedule to the current employee work time preferences and constraints using the Analyze feature.
