{"id":1031,"date":"2018-05-04T20:33:02","date_gmt":"2018-05-04T20:33:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/guide\/?page_id=1031"},"modified":"2018-09-19T19:49:16","modified_gmt":"2018-09-19T19:49:16","slug":"let-emps-pick-up-open-shifts","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/guide\/h-sub-tradeboard\/let-emps-pick-up-open-shifts\/","title":{"rendered":"Let Helpers Pick Up Open Shifts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To allow your helpers to pick up open shifts, you&#8217;ll want to go to your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/guide\/h-let-emps-signin\/h-controlling-emps\/\"><strong>SETTINGS<\/strong> &gt; Global Helper Permissions<\/a>\u00a0page.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Note that helpers can only pick up shifts for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/guide\/h-sub-emp-view-edit\/h-emp-positions-grid\/\">Positions they are set to be able to work<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Near the bottom, in the\u00a0<strong>Tradeboard<\/strong>\u00a0section, you&#8217;ll find\u00a0<strong>permission 20 &#8220;Can see and pickup UNASSIGNED shifts<\/strong>.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Set this to\u00a0\u2018<strong>at will<\/strong>\u2019\u00a0(without needing approval) or \u2018<strong>with coordinator approval\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0(meaning a coordinator has to approve each request).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Note that if you use the \u2018At Will\u2019 option then any pickup request that would put the helper over their maximum hours per week will require coordinator approval.<\/p>\n<p>Also, under\u00a0\u2018<strong>Viewing Other Helpers &amp; Their Schedules<\/strong>\u2019, you can set\u00a0<strong>permission 9 \u2018Can see UNASSIGNED SHIFTS on Everyone&#8217;s Schedule views<\/strong>\u2019\u00a0to either YES or NO.<\/p>\n<p>Then when you\u00a0\u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/guide\/h-sub-auto-sched-week\/h-publishing\/\">Publish<\/a>\u2019 a schedule week, any Unassigned shifts will appear on the helper Tradeboard for that week, allowing them to click on the Unassigned shifts they want and request to pick them up.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Finally, please note that main coordinators can click on the\u00a0&#8216;<strong>Change Layout<\/strong>&#8216; link on the\u00a0<strong>Weekly Tradeboard<\/strong>\u00a0view to change the layout, so that the unassigned shifts are posted above the shifts available for trade.\u00a0 If you make this change, it will appear in that order on your display and on the displays of other coordinators and helpers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To allow your helpers to pick up open shifts, you&#8217;ll want to go to your\u00a0SETTINGS &gt; Global Helper Permissions\u00a0page.\u00a0 Note that helpers can only pick&#8230;<\/p>\n<div class=\"more-link-wrapper\"><a class=\"more-link\" href=\"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/guide\/h-sub-tradeboard\/let-emps-pick-up-open-shifts\/\">More<span class=\"screen-reader-text\">Let Helpers Pick Up Open Shifts<\/span><\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"parent":1005,"menu_order":12,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/guide\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/1031"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/guide\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/guide\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/guide\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/guide\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1031"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/guide\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/1031\/revisions"}],"up":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/guide\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/1005"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/when2work.com\/help\/guide\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1031"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
